MISSION

To offer a wide array of mental health and wellness services that support the academic, social-emotional growth and well-being of students and educate the campus community in the context of mental health, wellness and violence prevention.  Services are free and confidential.

SERVICES

The Health & Wellness Office listens to student’s needs and problems.  The office provides confidential wellness coaching, personal/crisis counseling and community referral services to registered Helena College students.  Services provided are created using the Wellness Model which addresses all seven aspects of wellness (mind, body, spirit, environment, intellectual, vocational/occupational and social). Counseling services are strength based and solution focused to help students manage personal life issues and navigate their college experience. Counseling services are provided by licensed counselors or supervised counseling interns.  The office also provides outreach and educational services to the campus community in the context of mental health and violence prevention initiatives.  Services include classroom presentations, enrichment groups/activities, and mental health screenings.  Services are free and confidential.  Scheduling of appointments is strongly encouraged.  To schedule an appointment, please call 447-6962 or email Debbie.micu@helenacollege.edu or Google Voice at 406-662-1949.

  • Short-term counseling
  • Crisis counseling
  • Referrals to campus and community agencies

Outreach services and educational programming is conducted individually, in small and large group formats and as resources permit.

Educating programming and resources include:

  • Annual Health and Wellness Fair
  • Consultation with faculty, staff and administrators
  • Tabling Events, Intimate partner violence, sexual assault, stalking, LGBTQAI issues
  • Classroom Presentations
  • Enrichment Support Groups
  • Personal Wellness Screenings: (Depression, Anxiety, Eating Disorders, Alcohol)
  • Educational programming occurs when time and staffing resources permit.

STAFF

The Health & Wellness Center is staffed by a supervised graduate intern mental health counselor.

EMERGENCIES

During Business/Office Hours:  If an emergency arises and you need to speak with a counselor or if you are concerned about someone and would like to consult with a counselor, please call the Health & Wellness Center at (406) 447-6962.

After Hours :  If you require emergency services after office hours or during the weekends and holidays, please call 9-1-1, or go to the nearest hospital emergency room for assistance.
